Origin & Story

Origin & Story

Nyx was Seraphine once, before the Hollowing burned through the High Choir and left only embers where a sisterhood of guardians used to stand — the two share a bone structure and wing silhouette because they share an origin, not a coincidence.Where Seraphine's halo warms to amber, Nyx's has gone permanently cold, a design choice meant to read as grief rather than villainy — she isn't evil so much as extinguished.Players first meet her standing where Seraphine's bridge of light once was, now just ash — a direct visual callback meant to land before players even know the two are connected.

✦ DESIGN NOTES ✦

Nyx is Seraphine's silhouette run through the same design system in reverse — same wing rig, same halo geometry, but every warm value swapped for something scorched. The hardest note to hit was making her read as tragic rather than simply villainous: her halo doesn't glow gold or emerald, it just barely holds an ember-orange flicker, so it's clear the light isn't gone, only buried. Reusing Seraphine's construction rather than designing a new silhouette from scratch was the whole point — the resemblance has to hurt a little.
